Dallas Capital Bank was honored to host a table at Local Profile’s 23rd Annual Women in Business Summit. While any opportunity to spend time with clients and friends is a good time, this particular afternoon was enhanced by a stellar speaker lineup of powerhouse female business leaders from north Texas.
The official event theme was all about big ideas, but unofficially, the day was signaled by the speakers as an opportunity to reinforce the values and beliefs that women leaders possess and work to grow and develop at all points of a career.
Hosted by the publication’s effervescent VP of Sales and Marketing, Rebecca Silvestri, the event kicked off with a prompt about the power of our thoughts. By paying attention to what we think, and using positive affirmations, we can ensure our bodies respond positively to what we think and speak. Silvestri poignantly reminded, “Your life becomes what you think.”
Keynote speaker and People Operations Executive Melody Lenox shared her LIVE framework for leadership: Lead purposefully; Inspire greatness; Value every moment; Empower others/uplift/encourage/help build confidence.
The summit’s second keynote speaker, former CMO of Smoothie King, Marianne Radley, emphasized the importance of building confidence and being authentic as keys to career success. Radley shared transformational moments from her career, including many anecdotes of being the only female in the room. A few essential themes emphasized were:
- Seek out supportive relationships and environments that UPLIFT and ENCOURAGE your growth.
- Practice self-acceptance and kindness, rather than harsh self-criticism. Silence your inner critic.
- Negotiate what you deserve.
- The power of being your true self – embracing your authentic self is a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. When you are true to who you are, you unlock the power to live with purpose, confidence, and unshakable self-worth.
- Authenticity has a profound impact on personal and professional growth.
Two panel discussions featured illustrious female business leaders from a range of industries, including healthcare, law, retail, financial services, and automotive. The first group of panelists discussed “Big Ideas and Wisdom from Women in Business” and the importance of pushing through “no” and learning from mistakes to achieve success.
Ginny Kissling, global president and COO at Ryan and Dallas Capital Bank director, was a panelist on the second discussion, “Leadership and Innovation: Pioneering Big Ideas.” In discussing examples of providing the leadership necessary to innovate and push through career barriers, Kissling shared three important notes that especially resonated with the audience:
- Understand and embrace the power of the word “yes.”
- Remember that you are responsible for the energy you bring into a room.
- Recognize that you don’t get what you don’t ask for.
As a commercial bank, we are thrilled to participate in events that promote the vibrant business and entrepreneurial community in north Texas. Thanks to Local Profile as well as the speakers and participants for creating an enriching day of networking and connection among women business leaders.
