As a business rooted in the North Texas community, founded by Dallas entrepreneurs, and with “Dallas” in our name, we are exceptionally honored to support the great efforts of the robust charitable community in our region. We are proud to have team members, executive management, and board of directors who are passionate and active community participants in diverse causes across the region. While this group supports charitable efforts year-round through both volunteering and fundraising, one of our favorite days is North Texas Giving Day (NTX Giving Day), celebrated each September.
Led by the Communities Foundation of Texas, NTX Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform. NTX Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation. Dallas Capital Bank rallies around NTX Giving Day both by encouraging individual donations and by donating on behalf of the bank to worthy causes in the communities we serve.
“One of the things I personally love most about North Texas Giving Day is the opportunity to explore the website and search by the purpose of the organization,” said Wendy Blackwell, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Deposit and Treasury Management, for Dallas Capital Bank. “From food access to the arts to animal welfare to children’s causes, I love learning about the missions of both large, well-known charities and smaller, lesser-known organizations doing incredible work in their communities. It’s fulfilling to know that regardless of the size of the charity or the amount of the donation, we are all making a big impact on that day.”
This year, 97,000 donors raised $63.9 million for more than 3,200 nonprofits in 18 hours. While those numbers are rightly impressive, it’s important to recognize the context of those dollars at work. Ginny B. Kissling, Global President and Chief Operating Officer of Ryan, and Director of Dallas Capital Bank, serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the North Texas Food Bank. Her perspective underscores the impact on the North Texas families who are served through the efforts of NTX Giving Day. “A unique element of North Texas Giving Day is its ability to unite businesses of all industries and sizes under a shared mission to give back to their community,” states Kissling. “From global corporations like Ryan to local companies like Dallas Capital Bank, every contribution, regardless of size, carries the potential to create a significant impact. For instance, every $1 donated to the North Texas Food Bank provides three nutritious meals. As Vice Chair of the North Texas Food Bank, I have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand how those contributions translate into more than 375,000 meals distributed in North Texas every single day.”
Kissling adds, “I encourage everyone to consider sharing their expertise by joining nonprofit committees or even stepping into board leadership roles. These positions are incredibly impactful and can help drive strategic decisions to help nonprofits get closer to achieving their mission.”
At Dallas Capital Bank, we are enthusiastic participants in the philanthropic leadership that serves as the backbone of our vibrant North Texas community. Through our collective efforts to support a variety of organizations, we join our neighbors in an ongoing commitment to Dallas and North Texas.
